I came into this world by the grace of my parents meeting in Ethiopia. The short story is that my father was building hospitals and my mother was a nurse in the Peace Corps. I'm sure what they went through could fill a few books but I'll abbreviate here.. The first 8 years of my life were spent in Ethiopia among a large, loving family. Due to political and social unrest at home and educational opportunities here, the Mersha family moved to Lynn, MA, just north of Boston in 1979. The cultural transition was challenging but in the end I had a "typical" upbringing here with school, soccer & swim teams, scouts, baseball, etc..

While growing up I was always encouraged to develop my artistic talents and even won a few awards along the way both in art & music. My work ethic was really instilled in me by my parents... before I was technically old enough, I was delivering newspapers early in the morning then working part-time after school to help save for college (and my first bass at 15). I graduated from Classical High School in Lynn and went on to get my Bachelor's degree in Marketing from University of Massachusetts. Along the way I met some amazing musicians who I work with regularly even today.

After college I worked at the Boston Globe for a few years as a Customer Service Supervisor. Though the experience was vital to learning how to interact in a business environment, the job itself didn't stimulate my creative side. I decided to go out a get my first Mac, buy some graphic programs and take some night classes in Quark & Illustrator. Once I got started, it was apparent that this was the perfect field for me to get into. I very quickly got a new job with a small duplication company in 1998 and over the last 10 years, I've worked my way up to a creative director by being a key player, helping expand their business model from a tape duplicator that printed a few labels into an award-winning, high-quality cd/dvd screen print, digital offset print & direct to consumer marketing company.
